Dalby - in Colour

More from the Bronica, this time with Provia 400X - scanning this stuff is a nightmare, give me the lattitude of negative film any day. The whole set is on my Flickr

I've only scanned the black and white stuff so far, but I thought I'd show you what I've got so far. This afternoon I've got a bunch of Provia 400 to scan. Fun fun fun!

Dalby World Cup - Film Haul

I can't wait to get this little lot developed. If it comes out anywhere near as good as it looked through the Bronica's viewfinder, I'll be very happy indeed.
Dalby turned out to be a great event. The weather played ball, big crowds showed up and both men's and women's races were exciting events, right to the finish line, the men's particularly where Nino Schurter just got the better of Julien Absalon in a sprint finish. Absalon was super pissed off once he crossed the line and stormed off immediately - pretty funny.
Having got home at midnight last night, I feel like a zombie, but I'm going to get this film developed today and should have some scans up tomorrow. Who said film is slow?

SSEC 2010

I spent last weekend in the Forest of Dean at the Single Speed European Championships. It was awesome. Seriously, the best mountain biking event I've been too in years. Great atmosphere, great weather, great riding — the only thing I wasn't totally sold on was riding in one gear. It HURTS! I went with 32x16 and after 40km and 1000m of climbing on race day, my legs were toast. I was loving the descents though: the Forest of Dean really does have some excellent singletrack, and my recently converted Genesis iOiD performed perfectly.
There's going to be an article about the event with photos by me in an upcoming issue of MBR. I really should write it now while I still this enthusuastic about it.
Next stop, Dalby World Cup (to watch, not ride, obviously).

James & Anna's wedding

James&Anna0076, originally uploaded by Andy Waterman.
My brother James and his girlfriend Anna got married yesterday. I was chief photographer. We had a great day, with the wedding in Chelsea Town Hall, then we got a Route Master Bus across town to Beauberry House in Dulwich Village. The whole collection of photos are here
The photo here was taken with my 7D, a Canon 10-22mm lens and two flashes, triggered by Yongnuo RF-602 radio triggers. I only got the triggers this week and while they proved reliable at the wedding, I can't get them to sync at 1/250s, the camera's sync speed. Instead I'm limited to 1/200 of a second. It's not a huge problem but on a sunny day it makes life more difficult. Still I think we got the shot here.
Bizzarely, we made it onto the BBC news, thanks to the Tories plan to give married couples £150 per year. The video is on the iPlayer here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/election_2010/8613689.stm
One last photo - James, my Gran and me, taken by Laura.

My Brother's stag do

We had a pretty good laugh coasteering, dressing up like idiots, drinking and visiting theme parks in west Wales. The hangovers on Sunday morning were no laughing matter however. The wedding's this coming Saturday and I'm shooting that too - wish me luck!
