Back to Colchester

I haven't been back to Colchester for anything other than a bit of shopping for about three years. Rob was around staying with his parents for Christmas so we met up and went riding on some of the trails I used to ride when I lived there, and some that Rob showed me that were all new to me. It was strange being back, I'd say to Rob "this next descent is brilliant, really fast and technical", and then be really gutted to discover it was actually neither. Looks like I've become spoilt over the last few years, riding the like of the Alps and Whistler and riding the North Downs most weeks. What it did remind me is that if you're fit, you can have fun one any trail — you just need to be going super quick to get anything out of it and that takes hard work.
Today I rode in Danbury; discovered a nice little downhill track that some locals had built and rode it three times before riding back to Laura's to stuff my face with food and play with here little cousins.

Canada

Jeez, it's been a while since I updated my blog... So I just got back from Canada, had three and half weeks out there and it was awesome. The first ten days were spent with Ticket2Ride in Whistler riding my bike and taking pictures and after that it was down to Vancouver to hook up with Laura and stay with my uncle Kerr for two weeks.

The riding was crazy and has changed my view of mountainbiking completely – it's made me realise this sport could be as popular as skiing or snowboarding if it's marketed in the right way. The number of people on bikes in Canada is something that has to be seen to be believed.

We spent three days up in the Chilcotin Mountains which is where the top shot's from.

Wales in Spring time

Me and my brother James went over to Cwmcarn about ten days ago and it was pretty weird weather — or not given we were in Wales. It was dry but we way up in the clouds at the top of the hil, thus this shot. I've attempted to cross process it in PS, but I'm not sure about the results.

Holga update

Here's a couple of strips of film shot with the Holga. The vertical strip is from our work awards do (we all dressed up in skiwear and won best magazine award — pretty cool night), and the horizontal strip is from a day out in Brighton with Laura. Really sunny day, but mega cold — way back in mid March

XC racing

XC racing pictures always look so dull. The people all wear such crap clothes and have really bad style, so I thought black and white might work best. This was best of the day at last year's Bristol 12

Normandy Invasion

Went to Normandy last weekend for a feature for the mag. Stayed with rocknrolladventures.com and it was great - good food, good trails etc. It will be in the mag in the June issue - click to see the bigger picture

Nightrider

This is a secret spot in London which I thought would make a good photo spot. Webby agreed to ride even though it was minus 100 degrees (again) and here's what we got:

Holga

Holgas seem to be everywhere on the web at the moment. I just got one and here's a couple of contacts of my first couple of films, with a few of Laura who was getting annoyed I never put her on here

On the way to work...

It's been so cold and wet these last few days I've barely left the house apart from to go to work. Today I felt the need to do some riding so I added an hour on to my normal bike commute and headed out into the country. I really couldn't believe how much snow there was around. It was so nice I took a couple of snaps with my phone

Stockwell Skatepark

It was so cold when we went to Brixton to shoot these photos I litterally couldn't feel my hands. I could only get one flash to fire too becasue I think the apacitor in my Metz needs re-formatting or something... I don't know. Anyway, these are the best off camera flash shots I've done so far, so I'm quite pleased.

Hit the north

It was Laura's birthday the weekend before last so we headed up to Leeds so she could see her brother in York. Saturday was cool - we looked round town, met up with some old Uni mates and went out for a meal and drinks that night.
On Sunday I met up with my mate Mike and we went riding up near Pateley Bridge. I'm shooting a feature in France in March so I got some practise in taking trail riding pics. I'm not sure I'm that happy with them but I know what to look out for next time.
Sunday afternoon turned into a total nightmare when my bike got nicked out the back of my office car. £2.5k just disappeared... Fortunately they didn't get my camera gear and the bike was insured but it was stressful at the time.

Granny's Attic

Laura's friend Celia has a jewellery company called Granny's Attic and over the summer she asked me to take some pics of her stuff at her stall on Brick Lane. She's had a bit of coverage in some fashion mags and it's all good stuff. Here are the pics

Pics from Chicksands

So this is my blog where I'm going to put some pics up as and when. Here's a couple I got back from December when me and Danny from work went up to Chicksands. The weather was amazing - bright blue skies all day, and once you got moving, it wasn't even really cold.

My shitty ebay slaves had died so I only had one flash to play with but I think the results are alright. Here's what I got...
